"The matrimonial covenant, by which a man and a woman establish between themselves a partnership of the whole of life, is by its nature ordered toward the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring; this covenant between baptized persons has been raised by Christ the Lord to the dignity of a sacrament."
-Catechism of the Catholic Church 1601
Good marriage preparation takes time and effort. Arrangements for your wedding in the church are to be made no less than six months in advance of a suggested wedding date.
The Code of Canon Law of the Catholic Church presumes that a Catholic be married in his/her own parish church. Accordingly, it is our policy that at least one of the parties to be married should be a member of St. Charles Borromeo Church.
In addition, the Catholic Church's litugical documents express as the mind of the Church that the parish priest or deacon would prepare the couple for marriage and would ordinarily preach the homily and receive the vows, although visiting priests and deacons are most welcome to be present and vest for the wedding litrugy exercising their respective ministries.
Couples are expected to contact one of the priests or deacon at least six months prior to the date of marriage. The Sacrament of Holy Matrimony is celebrated late afternoon or early evening Fridays, and Saturdays at 1:30pm.
