Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit (vitae spiritualis ianua),4 and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission: "Baptism is the sacrament of regeneration through water in the word.
(Cathechism of the Catholic Church,1213)
The sacrament of Baptism is celebrated on Sundays after the 10:00am Mass.
“Baptism is birth into the new life in Christ” (Catechism of the Catholic Church, #1277). Baptism is the gateway into the Church by which we become adopted sons and daughters of God the Father, and temples of the Holy Spirit. Jesus taught that Baptism is necessary for salvation. All original sin and all personal sins are forgiven through the graces received in Baptism. The baptized become members of the Body of Christ, the Church, and share in Christ’s three-fold mission of priest, prophet and king.
Parents who wish to have their children baptized are to be registered members of the parish. Parents must attend the Baptism Program which is made available six times a year – February, April, June, August, October and December. Prior to the Baptism Program, a member of the parish staff makes a home visit to deliver the text for the program and provide a personal contact with the parish to answer questions and introduce families to available parish resources. It is recommended to attend the Baptism Program before the baby is born.
To schedule a Baptism, contact Jacob Nelson 612-787-1181.
If it has been longer than three years since attending the Baptism Program, parents are asked to repeat the evening program.
Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.
--Mathew 28:19-20
